We’ve got three great options for getting started at Portland Kung Fu. Click each option below for more information, and find the one that’s right for you!

  • A 6-week course where you’ll be training in an exclusive beginner’s-only class with a qualified instructor.

    After the course completes, you can transfer into our standard class program.

  • Can’t make it to a beginner’s class? No worries! You can jump right into a monthly membership and join our standard class program.

    Adult classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12pm or 7pm. The children’s program meets on the same days at 4pm.

    When you sign up, you’ll receive a free introductory lesson to get started.

  • Want to see if Ving Tsun kung fu is the right fit for you? Schedule an introductory lesson to learn what it’s all about!

    The introductory lesson is an hour-long private lesson where we’ll go over the basic tools and exercises of the Ving Tsun kung fu training system. It’s also a great place to get answers to any questions you may have.

    The price of your introductory lesson will be applied towards your membership when you sign up. So come on in and try it for yourself today!

Authentic Kung Fu

At Portland Kung Fu, we teach the Ving Tsun (pronounced Wing Chun) training system as it was passed down, unchanged by our own ideas. Ving Tsun is a powerful Chinese martial art descendent from the Shaolin Temple. It’s characterized by the efficient use of motion and directed force. Through Ving Tsun training, practitioners develop increased power, speed, and coordination, as well as awareness, discipline, and fighting capability.

AWARENESS

By developing our focus, we increase our conscious awareness of ourselves and our surroundings. This increased awareness, or “mindfulness”, is beneficial in many areas of life, as well as combat.

SELF-DEFENSE

Kung fu is first and foremost for fighting. Practicing the techniques of Ving Tsun, we learn to defend ourselves efficiently & effectively in the face of real violence.

DISCIPLINE

Through rigorous training sessions, we forge our willpower into an unstoppable force. Once developed, this force can be turned towards any goal in life.

FITNESS

The drills and exercises of Ving Tsun are designed to condition the body to be faster, stronger, and more coordinated. Kung fu conditioning is also a fun & interesting workout.
